BABIES ESSAY!!!
Although babies around the world are raised in different environments, there are many similarities as well as many differences. In the movie “ Babies” viewers track four babies being raised in four different environments in Mongolia, Japan, Africa and the united states.
The similarities between the four are, in my opinion, good things that should should be similar with every family in the world. one similarity is nourishment. All of the mothers find a way to nourish the babies. They each had breast milk or milk from a bottle. When the babies got older the mothers had food for them to eat, and water to drink. Food and water is always important, we as humans have to have it to survive.
Another similarity, and an awesome one, is all of the mothers seem very loving to their newborns. Keeping the baby close and showing there love and hope they have for them is a very precious bond between the mother and the babies. The mothers in Africa seem to always be holding the newborns and rocking them. The mother in the United States also showed to be rocking and comforting the babies as well. The mother in Mongolia showed her caring and loving by how she bathed her children. Last the mother in Japan did many things to show there newborn love by doing walks in the park, to the zoo, and also rocking as all the other mothers did.
Animals were also shared in common with in each of these families. Mongolia had many different farm animals which the children adapted to such as cows and sheep. In the United States, Japan, and Africa there were either cats or dogs as pets.
Now that we’ve gone over the similarities, here are the many, many differences within each family. I’ll start with the United States.
In the united States they showed that they kept the babies extremely clean. The children had many things and stuff along with social stimulation was evident. The parents bathe the baby by shower . the only problem was that sometimes the parents were so busy that they didn't give the babies the attention they needed at times.
Japan, the parents seemed to have many toys for the baby, almost all the parents’ focus was on the children, so a lot of social stimulation. Th mothers in Japan took there children to many baby classes to help the baby with there imagination and creative skills. Also the mother did some sort of yoga with the babies.
In Mongolia the parents didn’t seem very protective. The children would sleep anywhere. They were also free to roam and explore everywhere. In Mongolia, this particular family lived on a type of a farm called a yurt. They lived in what looked almost like a metal hut and farm animals surrounded the area. Leaving kids alone probably wasn’t the safest plan. But in that country that's what they had to do and were taught to do. At one point, to keep one of the babies from going anywhere, they tied him to a bed leg. I guess when you have to work you don’t have many options for a baby-sitter , and if you lived in the middle of nowhere as in their culture, then that was there solution.
Last but not least Africa. The mothers had no choice but to raise there children according to the environment. For example, the toys for the children to play with are rocks and necklaces. The mothers sing to the babies as social stimulation, as well as holding the babies for the majority of the time. Cleanliness seemed hard for the families in Africa, what they used as a bath was the river and for toilet paper they used a corn cob. Everyone eats from one bowl using there hands. For transportation they ride donkeys. Fly's were everywhere around. So, it was very hard to stay clean there. I think our lives here in the United States is so much easier. I don’t think anyone here could even imagine what it would be like to live a hard life like that in Africa.
In most of places shown in the movie “Babies”, the infants were born and raised with so many similarities as well as differences. I am great-full to be one of the lucky one who could see this movies and understand how babies are raised around the world. I hope that one day if i ever have children i hope that i can give it a good life using the tools of knowledge i now have.
